Cali's first taste of an Oreo!! YUMMY!!!! (And Daddy was the lucky one that got to clean her up)

Hooray!!

NOTHING is safe in this house any more. Cali is all about tearing everything out of cupboards and drawers and loves climbing into small spaces. Reminds me of Wesley at this age........

This is Wesley at about the same age Cali is now. He was always climbing into drawers and over and under and in and out of everything! This day, I was doing laundry and realized I was missing my son. It didn't take long to find him (especially because the place we lived in was so tiny) and he was happy as a clam in that dryer. Cali is headed down that same road.

Here is my lovely model, Aubrey. She wouldn't keep her tongue in her mouth for these pics to show y'all her finished dress. It looks darling on her. And a matching hair piece. I can't wait to finish the Easter dresses!!!

Silly girl!

The Things Kids Learn...

At lunch today, we asked Wesley what he learned at church and he started telling us about how humans came to earth. He was being silly and said "humans got to earth on a space ship". Then we continued to talk about how we all lived in Heaven before we came here and that Heavenly Father presented a plan for us to come to earth to receive bodies. Some how we ended up talking about Satan, and how he doesn't have a body like us and that makes him angry. Brady said something about him being like "a ghost", which freaked Wesely out. So, we back tracked and re-explained the whole spirit and body thing. Then Wesley informed us that "Satan wears a black dress." When we asked how he knew that, he said, "it's in my movie." Referring to one of the Living Scripture videos he has. lol

Aubrey is learning the primary songs and sings them all the time. Although her very favorite song is on Enya's Christmas CD, #3 (a few of the lyrics, because I don't recall the title right now, "green is in the mistletoe and red is in the holly. silver in the stars above that shine on everybody....). She is also learning to write her name and pronounce all of the sounds. Her speech is improving, and I have decided to hold off on taking her in to a therapist. She loves to help cook and do dishes. How long do you think that will last? lol Her and Wesley love to watch 'The Wizard of Oz'. They also love to quote the witch when she is being melted. They walk around saying, "My world, my world!" and giggling. Aubrey is still enjoying gymnastics and is doing better with her cart wheels and balancing on the beams. She is still addicted to chocolate milk.

Cali has been taking little steps here and there for a couple of weeks, and the past two days is trying even harder, taking up to 5 steps at a time before slowly sitting down to a squatting position. She is teething, and that has not been fun. THANK YOU TEETHING TABLETS! They have made the whole process a little more comfortable for her. She loves to play in the play room, and I often loose her through out the day, only to find that she has made her way up the stairs to her favorite little hide out in the playroom, under the desk. She loves balls and playing with the Little People farm house that makes all of the animal sounds. She loves to clap, and play peek-a-boo. She also loves to try to get into the toilet!! yuck!!! At church today, she was watching the music director very intently and then proceeded to direct the music herself by waving her arm all around. It was very cute.

And I am still sewing..........

SEW Fun.....

I have been very intrigued with learning to sew with elastic thread. So, I have been blog hopping around and decided, after reading a few tutorials, that it appeared very simple. And, it is. But, I have learned that it is vital to get correct measurements; otherwise the cute skirt you make for your 10 month old, will end up a dolls dress;-)

Attempt number 2: the cute skirt that ended up a dolls dress, sparked inspiration for these dresses. I want to make a dress like these for both girls for Easter; so I decided I need to practice. I am almost finished with my first attempt at it. Just need to sew the straps on and add a little ribbon or bow or flower, and they will be finished. I especially like the detail on the bottom of Cali's dress. Inspiration from a cute scarf I saw on THIS fun blog.

This is just a picture to show you how silly my kids are....

Brady and I were eating chips and french onion dip. These two picky kids would have nothing of the french onion; they opted for KETCHUP! Not a surprise with Wesley, who insists on us packing him ketchup sandwiches in his school lunch. Brady just said, "People dip french fries in ketchup, why not chips?" Hmmm.......

Finally got it to the point that it wasn't prickly, and he shaved it off today!!! He is nice and smooth again.

Mrs. "Tatoe" Head, And The Monster

My friend found these really cute felt "tatoe heads", as Aubrey calls them, on one of those crafty blogs. So, we decided to give them a try. It was a fun little project and the kids have really enjoyed them. I actually made one potato head, and then Wesley decided he wanted a monster. So, a monster he got. It turned out alright. Cali just likes playing with all of the parts.

Upper Cut!

One of the things our kids LOVE to do before bed, is dance. Brady pulls up their most favorite dancing tunes and they go nuts. The other night we were all being silly, practicing our jabs and upper cuts when suddenly I felt flesh on one of my ups. I knocked Wesley right in jaw! Poor kid. He was stunned. He didn't cry, but I felt horrible!

TO CRASH OR NOT TO CRASH, THAT IS THE QUESTION...

Brady got a radio control plane for Christmas. It has been "fun" to learn how to fly it. It is now in the repair shop, awaiting a new propeller. We tried flying in the field at the end of our street, and then darn thing nose dived and hit THE ONLY ROCK in the whole field.

The pictures are taken at a field down by the church we go to. During this flight, the plane flew for about 6 seconds before it crashed into a chain link fence. grrrrrrr Someday. Someday it will REALLY fly. :-)

Wesley: I want to play baseball mom.
Aubrey: Me too. I want to play baseball.
Wesley: You can't play baseball Aubrey; baseball is for boys only.
Aubrey: Hmm... I want to play pink ball. I just need a bat.

LOL!

Wesley: I need to shave my legs mom.
Mom: Why do you need to shave your legs?
Wesley: I have a beard growing on my leg.
Mom: You don't have a beard growing on your leg. Beards grow on faces. (Brady currently has a beard, just fyi)
Wesley: I do have a beard on my leg! Feel it! It is all scratchy. (referring to a patch of eczema on his thigh.)

I really should carry a little note book with me at all times, so I can write all the funny things the kids say, down. They crack me up daily.

Aubrey started sunbeams (a class for the 3-4 year olds at church) today! Standing there watching her sit with all her little friends on the front row was an awesome moment for me. We have two kids in primary. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone.

This week, my 2 big goals are to first, make an appointment with the speech therapist for Aubrey, and second, make both Wesley and Aubrey dentist appointments. Wish me luck:-)

My big goal for the year, to SIMPLY BE BETTER. Which requires motivation, energy, self disciplin etc. All things I fall short in. As long as I improve in any area of my life, I will feel content.

Bradys big goal for the year is to get more sleep. lol j/j Really, it is to improve his phyisical state. No more soda, lots more excersise. :-)
